Some Teams Summiting Now; Looking Ahead for Eric

Last night (Nepal time), Madison Mountaineering left for the summit around midnight, which is on the later end of the usual range. They said they expected wind but were predicting that it should dissipate while they were out there. Watching their GPS trackers, it appears that several people on their team summited! At 75, reports say that Art Muir, whom I've come to adore from following him on Instagram. just became the oldest American to summit Everest. They have all been trailblazers during this weather window. Sending all of their climbers best wishes for a safe descent.

Alan Arnette estimated that there could be 75 people out on the current summit push, each of them breaking trail through the new snow to hopefully make tomorrow more manageable for Eric and team. And decreasing the number of climbers setting off tonight (Nepal time).

7 Summits Club from Russian had announced that they also were going to be in that summit push too, but I haven't seen summit announcements from them yet. From what I see, I think IMG and CTSS are waiting for tonight for their summit bid.

With the time difference and according to the announced schedules, a lot of teams, including Eric and SummitClimb expecting to depart around the time we are waking in the US on Sunday.

Looking ahead, here's another great video from CTSS showing what the early section of the summit bid day will look like:

Exciting things ahead!
