Why Michigan is Really Cool, Reason #6: Fishing
You didn't really think I was finished with all the reasons Michigan is cool, did you? Not yet!
What small boy doesn't like fishing? It combines all the natural boy interests - worms, water, excitement, slimy fish...what more could you ask for really?
Grandpa and Grandma have even buried a semi-permanent worm house out by the pond.
Fresh, squiggly worms whenever you want them!
Grandpa does need a bit of assistance getting everything ready.
And two small boys are always ready to help with fish hooks, worms, and bobbers.
Most of the time we just fish from the water's edge...
But this year, we just mentioned that Soren likes paddling around in our small raft at our house and then Grandpa was off like a shot to borrow an old row boat from the neighbor's. It needed a bit of cleaning up...
But then it was ready for action!
Once he was in the boat, Soren didn't really care if he had a fishing pole or not. He was quite content to just try to grab floating leaves.
But Luke? Luke is a true fisherman!
They boys are a good team though. Luke likes to catch them, but not touch them once they are out of the water (check out how far back he's leaning away from the fish!)
But Soren just love to get his hands all over the fish so he can let them go back into the pond!
This is one of the (many) reasons we love visiting in the summer...the pond isn't frozen over!

Love the shot with the fish just coming out of the water...that's impressive! You are so good at telling the story with your photos.
ReplyDeleteGrandpa's a brave man to take two little boys in a boat! Looks like fun, though!!
