The Great Ice of 2008

Would you believe we are still trapped at home? We haven't left the house since Sunday. Car is still parked down at the neighbors. I was so hopeful for today, but those hopes appear to be the only thing that is melting.

Well, at least we're getting some fun baking done. Yesterday we made pecan brittle, which Soren and Peter delivered around the neighborhood. Today it looks like caramel corn is on the agenda.

Mostly to entertain themselves, Peter and Soren went out to "salt the roads" this morning. I'm sure table salt isn't what is normally used 'round the streets of town, but hey, it's cheap fun!

Most of our SUV and 4-wheel-drive owning neighbors seemed to have at least escaped on occasion (though some have come back with you'd-better-stay-home driving stories), so we aren't completely stranded here. We're just better safe than sorry with our two-wheel drive vehicles. More potential icy conditions coming in again today...

  1. If you get hungry, we could somehow launch some food at your house. I'm sure it's possible. Or maybe some ice skates. Hey, where's grandpa's sled when you need it?

  2. Are you getting cabin fever yet? I'm actually quite enjoying this freeze...I'm the only one still trying to get my shopping done at the mall I think???
