A Boy and His Sticks
You wouldn't think that a major urban area would be a very suitable location for finding sticks, would you?
I mean, certainly you could expect to find a random twig fallen from a city tree...
...or perhaps a few while walking through a park.
But in Washington DC? Would think it possible that a small boy could find a branch...
...or branchES as the case may be...
...almost every time he turned around?
And, for the record, no, these are not all just posts of the same branch again and again. We made him leave the branches outside when ever we went in a building, toured the capital, headed to a museum...well, ok, he snuck one in the Lincoln Memorial.
But it seems he has a homing instinct and usually had a (new) branch in hand as soon as we were outside again. Every once in awhile though...
...he'd come across a branch too good to pass up, perhaps because of the additional element of danger...
...or just the thrill of carrying something twice as tall as he is.

I love it. Kate is the stick kid in our family. No matter where we were, she would find sticks and bring home as many as possible.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you guys are having so much fun. I can't wait to take my kids to DC. There's so much to see!
Sounds like he is going to be a logger or forester when he grows up. Silly Boy!
ReplyDeleteLove the Blossoms on the trees! We moved there in late April when most of the blossoms were gone and left in December. I hear they are spectacular!
