The Butterflies' Progress

Late last week the caterpillars crawled up and suspended themselves to the lid of their jar:

Tonight we removed them from their jar...

...and transfered them to their new home. Now we're awaiting the "birthing" of our Painted Lady Butterflies!

  1. Exciting! Kate's class has some caterpillars. She told me they were changing. I said, "oh, did they make cacoons?" I was harshly corrected. "It's a crysalis, mom, NOT a cacoon!!"

I hope you got your money's worth and they're painted ladies, not moths.

  3. What a great project. I don't know if any other four year old would have been prepared for this other than Soren. He just seems to have that soft touch and inquisitive demeanor to him. You can tell how much he is in love with these butterflies just by the look on his face.

I agree with Natalie though....I hope they aren't moths too. That would be such a disappointment. Although, some moths are quite beautiful :D
