Hotel Logistics

You know, staying in a hotel room with a three year old requires a bit of creative thinking. While it is interesting to wander around and explore new cities, you just can't do it all day long. In order to have a less tantrum-prone child, it really is neccessary to have a certain amount of downtime in the hotel every day. So, we've learned a few tricks:

1) Always have snacks on hand.
2) Bring some new toys that will entertain him in the room for a little while.
3) If you don't get upgraded to a suite, make your own! Here you'll see that we've converted our regular hotel room into a 2-bedroom suite.

It can be such a nightmare if we can't get him to go to sleep in another "room". In situations where it just isn't possible, I have to admit that Peter and I have resorted to hiding on the floor just so he can't see us while he's falling asleep. Otherwise he just wants to talk and won't fall asleep for hours!

  1. Soren's a good sport to sleep in the bathroom like that.

  2. Love the two bedroom "suite." Now that is creative! Thanks for the traveling tips - if there was ever a family of seasoned travelers it is you guys.

  3. Hey that bathroom idea isn't half bad. We've hid in the bathroom waiting for them to fall asleep. I've learned that paying for the suite is well worth it!!

  4. We just went through the whole "keeping young kids entertained in a hotel room thing." Seems like you guys did a way better job of planning that out than we did! Looks like you had a blast!
