Video clips from Eric: Helicopter Evac from Camp 2
The treasure trove of video clips that Eric uploaded included scenes from the helicopter evacuation from Camp 2. (See this post for the details I'd previously shared.) Such a dramatic helicopter landing. I'm so glad that the evacuated climber has recovered well.

Relatedly, I also listened to a fascinating podcast about a different helicopter rescue, this one from the Khumbu Icefall. The podcast is with Kenton Cool, one of the most experienced western guides on the mountain. He happened to be leading his client through the Icefall (you'll hear him refer to Ardavan, his client) while the rescue was happening and taped audio commentary throughout. It is really interesting to hear someone with his experience comment on all the details of the rescue. (Important note: Kenton, who is British, refers to the person being rescued as the "casualty". In my experience, most Americans use that word to mean death. The person being rescued in this situation had a broken leg, he did not die.) You can listen to the podcast here. Kenton is on his summit attempt right now.
