Home Depot!

For our trip to Reno last week, we were pulling into the airport parking lot. Soren looked out the window and saw the huge parking lot with endless rows of car and yelled

Could this be a sign that he and Peter spend too much time on home improvement projects?

Presents Under the Tree

On Friday I brought a stack of books home from the library. I told him that I had presents for him. As expected, he was thrilled and we jumped right in and started reading them. After a little while he got up and went into the other room. He kept saying something but I couldn't quite make sense of it. Sounded like he was saying "presents under the tree" but that just didn't make sense. Sure enough though, there he was climbing around under our big Norfolk Pine tree. We had decorated it as our Christmas tree this year. Seems now whenever Soren wants more presents (in this case, more books) he goes over to the Christmas tree to see if he can find any!

When we were in Reno we stopped up at Squaw Valley ski resort. They have a cute little shopping village that you can walk around. You can also walk right up to the base of the chair lifts. Soren loved watching the big high speed gondola-type lifts come blasting out of the chute!

Snow Monkey see, Snow monkey do

In Wenatchee at Christmas, Soren loved playing out in the snow. Here he is following his cousins around and learning the ins and outs of making snow_angels

Fun in Reno and Lake Taco!

We went to Reno and Lake Tahoe ("Lake Taco" according to Soren) last week for a bit of a mini-vacation. We had a blast!

Soren got to use his new Thomas The Train carryon bag. He looked like a little adult strolling through the airport pulling his carryon. He loves that thing! When we went to pick up our bags, the next conveyor wasn't being used, so Soren strolled over and loaded Thomas on it.

Fun in the hotel:

We took our snowshoes with us, but the snow was firm enough that we could just hike on it. Here we are at about 7,000 ft at a viewpoint over Lake Tahoe:

Soren missed a few of the lovely vistas on the way seems that Peter's rythmic gait lulled him right to sleep...

Snowshoeing on New Year's Day!

Originally uploaded by apsara711.
We started 2007 off right with a quick trip to the mountains to do some snowshoeing. It was a great day! Peter carried Soren in the back pack and I carried the hot cocoa (pretty good trade-off I thought!) Soren wasn't crazy about the slow going on the uphill part, but when we got to the bouncy rythmn of the downhill portions he thought it was a blast. We hiked up to a small forest service hut which had a roaring fire in the woodstove, so we warmed up and drank some cocoa while Soren ran around the place happy to be freed from the backpack.
Here is a photo of Peter bustin' a move on his snowshoes...
