Summit Bid: Base Camp to Camp 2

They made it to Camp 2! As expected, they left Everest Base Camp around 2 a.m. Nepal time in order to climb through the Khumbu Icefall while it was most stable. They took a nice break at Camp 1, and then made their way to Camp 2 where they'll wait for a suitable weather window for their summit bid.

I don't yet have any of Eric's or the expeditions photos of their climb last night. I previously shared some of Eric's photos of this section, Base Camp to Camp 1 and Camp 1 to Camp 2. I also saved a few favorite images that other expeditions have shared of the legendary Khumbu Icefall that they climbed through again last night.

The official SummitClimb Dispatch that I shared earlier today, talks about the uncertain weather patterns. Following so many teams and individual climbers, I've found the interpretations of the weather models vary enormously. Some teams are a day ahead of Peter (though still appear to be waiting at Camp 2, so they are still in the same place now), others are setting off tonight, and still others are hanging back in Base Camp for 5-6 days for what currently looks like a second weather window. The primary driver of the uncertainty seems to be in assessing what impact a coming cyclone will have. Time will tell.
