Lovely Day at Silver Falls
Whenever we have out-of-town visitors, Silver Falls State Park is always one of our destinations. Such a spectacular park, can't believe it is so close to us. But we don't take advantage of it often enough ourselves.
On President's Day we were torn between going snowshoeing (so far to drive) and cleaning the house (so boring!) so we compromised and went for a nearby hike at Silver Falls.
Of course this requires lots of Corn Nut fortifications before heading out...
...especially if you will be carrying the family backpack (this arrangement lasted until we got out of the parking lot.)
And on to the waterfalls!
Much of the trail is next to the river...
...which is perfect for some rock-throwing diversion if the hiking gets too tiring.
Can you see Peter and Soren off to the right side of this picture? (They would be the little specks next to the fence.) These waterfalls are HUGE!!
A perfect Pacific Northwest forest kind of hike. Love it.
