We were having so much fun singing on my birthday that we taped Soren singing another favorite:

My favorite birthday present

Soren sang "Happy Birthday" to me for my birthday recently. It was the very best present!

I have a dream

The other day Soren was telling Peter about a dream that he had had. He had so much detail in it that Peter grabbed the video camera to record it. Note: He talks about Kadri and Eduard who are friends of ours.

Working for a living

We've decided that it is time for Soren to start pulling his own weight around the house. After all, he is two whole years old already. ;-)

We thought gardening would be a good starting point:

And perhaps mowing the lawn:

What does a chicken say?

The other day we were at our weekly family breakfast. Soren was chatting with his favorite waitress. Here was the conversation.

Waitress: Soren, what does a chicken say?
Soren: Hey Soren, how ya doin'?

Clearly he has developed a relationship with some local poultry that I didn't know about!

Victoria's (not so) Secret

On Sunday Soren and I stopped at Victoria's Secret. My mom got me a gift certificate there for my birthday. Anyway, I was looking at bras and here's the conversation Soren and I had:

Soren: What's that?

Me: This is a bra.

Soren: Do you put your nanas in there?

All the ladies in the store were totally cracking up!

Tasty little Soren

Recently we were riding in the car and as we pulled into the parking lot I told Soren that I was going to come get him out of his car seat and kiss him all over.

He replied, "Mama, don't suck on me. I am not a binky."

Then the other night I was again kissing him all over (yes, there is a lot of kissing going on in our house!) and he said "I'm a blueberry!" So I pretended to be eating my little blueberry. When I started kissing him on the arm he said, "No mama, don't eat that, that's the stem!"

Southern Oregon vacation

Goodness! Where has the time gone? Suddenly I blink and find out that it has been nearly 3 weeks since we last posted. So sorry to all the loyal Soren fans just dying for that last word on his latest activities!

Last week we went down to Southern Oregon. We stayed in a yurt which we're finding is the perfect experience in camping with a toddler. Long gone are the days of 10-mile hike to set up camp in a remote, pristine location...and now we're enjoying the days of walking up to our yurt, turning on the lights (and heat if needed!) and considering ourselves to be camping!

Once we got down to our destination in Southern Oregon, we realized we were right around the corner from the Redwoods and northern California Coast. Fantastic!

We've been reading a book about sand castles lately and as soon as Soren saw the beach he wanted to build one. Unfortunately, this wasn't a sand beach...but he still had lots of fun moving piles of the pebbly-sand.

After a lot of driving in the car, Peter said Soren needed a chance to run by the water. He got progressively braver with each wave and while we were smart enough to remove his shoes and socks immediately, we soon found out that we should have also removed his pants! By the time we wisened up, they were pretty well drenched.

And so, we did most of the site seeing in the Redwoods with Soren wearing his shirt and diaper!
